Description
Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow and Becky Albright, from DC's comic Mistress of Fear.

(The story was about the Scarecrow attempting to break a young girl who refused to be intimidated by him, in the process discovering she shares the same innermost fear as him, being tormented and rejected.
When he offers Becky a chance to join him, she refuses and he is of course defeated by the Batman.)

A scene they didn't show in the comic was the space of time in between him being caught and being sent to the asylum. I think he must have been broken at this point, knowing he was about to be tossed back to the wolves and still feeling the sting of rejection.
Becky never saw his unmasked face, I think that seeing its emotions of fear and quite frankly its ugliness would have stirred a feeling of compassion towards him. A frightening thing to to feel about your enemy.
